Where Area's I Need Some Improvement
Imma Cutie
Animal ID: 70330
This photo of Imma Cutie was one of my least favorite photos that I took last week.
The main strength of this photo is that I was able to brighten his eyes using the dodge tool. I also adjusted the color so the gray in his fur stood out a little more. Lastly I was able to capture a calm, happy cat. He doesn't look scared or backed into a corner.
The AOI are that he was not looking at the camera and I was took close and didn't get his full ear. The background is also a little too distracting. I should have stood at an angle were he was behind the blank wall. Lastly I don't think he is perfectly in focus. He looks a little burry in this picture. I need to make sure that I am taking a breath before I am taking the picture to cut back on camera movement.
You did a great job explaining your areas of weakness and strengths in this picture. I agree and think the eyes look great but a less distracting background would make the picture better!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sara-Anne! I was at the shelter Wednesday and I tried to be mindful of what was in the background!
DeleteI agree as well that you did a good job explain the strengths and areas of improvement. We are on the same page in that of the AOI's you have mentioned. Imma Cutie needs to be looking at the camera and needs to capture his whole face. On a positive note, I love that you were able to catch his eyes! Great Job
ReplyDeleteIt can be tricky getting them straight on they are so curious!
DeleteLauren, you critiqued your picture well! I also found it very challenging to capture Imma Cutie on camera and did not even get a picture I could use. You knew the areas of strengths such as the eyes and the dodge tool as well as the areas of improvement such as taking a breath. I too am reminding myself to take a breath before each picture. We will both continue to remind ourselves about our perfectionist tendencies and congratulate ourselves on the work we have done!
ReplyDeleteI agree! We are all improving by leaps and bounds! I'll be excited to see our pictures from the end of the class and compare them to our first pictures!
DeleteThis photograph of Imma Cutie has a nice shallow depth of field. The background is a bit distracting and while I know that it is hard to get the animals to pay attention, try to take multiple shots so that it may possible to get one of her looking at the camera.
ReplyDeleteThank you that is a good idea. I try and multiple shots but sometimes I decide to move on before I get the perfect shot. I need to be a little more patient I guess!
DeleteGranted, the lights are a bit distracting. But the picture of Imma Cutie is fantastic. You did a great job capturing him. My personal opinion is that variety is good. They don't all need to be staring into the lens of the camera all the time. Great work!
ReplyDeleteGreat critique! I think your observation about the focus is a good one. If we look closely we will see that this images does have shallow depth of field, and the area of focus is on the ear on the left. I think the "slight" out of focusness on the right face has to do with this shallow depth of field. Good work!
